Dr.Quratulain Bakhteari – The CAP Podcast #162
Dr.Quratulain Bakhteari was born on 25th December 1949 in Multan. She has worked for the development of communities in Pakistan for most of her life and is a truly inspirational woman. In this Podcast she briefly speaks of various projects she has worked on such as the Orangi Pilot Project (OPP), water and sanitation in Kashmir, Aga Khan Rural Support, multiple projects in Interior Sindh and female education in Balochistan.
She then talks about her work in Quetta - Balochistan. She had established an institute called IDSP (Institute for Development Studies and Practices) in 1998. The main campus is in Balochistan and there is a smaller campus in Karachi. They work on enrolling students in different developmental programs and training, and empowering people who cannot go to schools and universities. They have been working consistently with various communities and are now aiming to build a University of non-formal education in Balochistan.
