Dr. Ikhlaq Hussain – The CAP Podcast #172
Dr. Ikhlaq Hussain was born in Patiala in 1934. He spent a few days in a refugee camp in Patiala with his family before they were all transported to Pakistan. After graduating from Nishtar College in the early 1960’s, Dr. Hussain traveled to Saudi Arabia to work as a doctor for the office of Crown Prince Khalid, and remained there until 1983. Dr. Hussain now works with some of his friends from Fatima Memorial College to run a charity clinic in Lahore.
In this podcast, Dr. Ikhlaq Hussain talks about his experience at a refugee camp during Partition, when his family was forced to abandon him and leave him at the edge of a trench dug for the dead and those infected with cholera. Fortunately, Dr. Hussain miraculously survived after having remained among the dead for two days.
