Ibrahim Hyderi - Silent Voices
Ibrahim Hyderi (Urdu: ابراہیم حیدری) is one of the neighbourhoods of Bin Qasim Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.
There are several ethnic groups in Ibrahim Haidery including Muhajirs, Sindhis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochis,Lasi, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, etc. Over 99% of the population is Muslim. The population of Bin Qasim Town is estimated to be nearly one million.
Fish harbour
Ibrahim Hyderi Fish Harbour or Ibrahim Hyderi Fish Point is a jetty for fishermen and their boats. The fish are processed and sent to markets and bazaars in Karachi.
In 2002, Video Image produced a six-film documentary series “Silent Voices” that promotes the right to be different from one’s dominant environment. The series was filmed in India and Pakistan, outlining stories about exiled Afghan musicians in Peshawar, an outcast painter from Lahore, dying fisher community of Makran coast, story about the city of Mumbai, island of Diu and the exiled Tibetan society in Dharamsala.
